We will celebrate Pentecost on Sunday, May 19, which will be a busy day for us. Much like the first Pentecost, we will baptize 3 little people, not 3000 during the service. We will also recognize our High school and College graduates as they complete one chapter of life and start a new one. Make sure you wear your red, orange or yellow!

A gift to the Pentecost Offering helps the church encourage, develop, and support its young people, and also address the needs of at-risk children. 40% of the Pentecost offering can be retained by individual congregations wanting to make an impact in the lives of young people within their own community. The remaining 60% is used to support children-at-risk, youth, and young adults through ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency.

Join us as we embark on a journey of inter-faith dialogue through our Scriptural Reasoning series. This unique approach brings people of different faiths together to read and reflect on their scriptures, not seeking agreement but exploring texts and their interpretations across faith boundaries. It's about learning to 'disagree better' and fostering deeper understanding and respect.

Graduate Sunday is May 19.

To help in the nursery and with Children's Worship

As you may have noticed, our population of children has increased, which is a blessing. With the increased numbers we need folks to volunteer in the nursery as well as assist with Children's Worship. Both areas give you an opportunity to build relationships with our youngest members. Please ponder on giving one Sunday in a quarter to our children. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. JoAnne.

We still need volunteers in the church office to help with answering the phone, taking deliveries, and "holding down the fort" while the staff takes lunch. We have several days/times available. Please contact Kathy at 904-223-6922 to help out.

Choir members from over 7 area churches are joining together to sing Lloyd Larsen’s A Festival of Hymns here at Hodges, followed by a reception.

The audience will have opportunities to join in the singing as well!

Save the date for Family Fun Day, at Montgomery Center, on June 1. Swimming and archery will be available from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. for guests, and camp tours will be available at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. This is a FREE event.

There will be an adult discussion group on faith, Sunday mornings at 9:00 am using The Present Word. Please join us in the Sunrise Room.

Two more of our homeless clients secured residences in April! We received 6,337 pounds of food and distributed 7,952 pounds. Our shelves are getting bare, so please keep us in mind when you shop for food. We served 573 clients, 293 homeless and helped 8 families financially.

Pantry needs are: canned pasta, chili, canned meat, Vienna sausage, canned vegetables and fruit, pasta sauce, instant potatoes, jelly, crackers, oatmeal, peanut butter crackers, cereal/breakfast bars, snacks, clean T-shirts, and gently used Bibles.

We continue to give thanks to the congregation’s response to our “Blessed to Be a Blessing” generosity campaign. We have received 53 pledges totaling $458,546. At this point we expect 2024’s total income to be $615,000 and total expenses to be at $676,000.

We hope to hear from those who have not responded as we continue to evaluate our expectations, before we complete our plan for next year.
