Our FLAME students were busy this week being the hands and feet of Christ. They baked cookies for our shut-ins and made lunch for Mission House. Thank you for keeping them in your prayers as they were serving in our community. Be sure and join us this Sunday to hear how this experience has impacted them.

We will be commissioning our youth today (Sunday, July 14) as they prepare for their trip to Charlotte, NC to serve at Cross Missions, a ministry of Myers Park Presbyterian.

No discipleship group for the summer. We will resume in the fall.

Over 50 children were at Hodges this during VBS learning about the love of Jesus, making new friends, and generally just having fun! We thank all of our volunteers for their time and hard work in this rewarding community ministry.

It’s never too later to participate in our

“Fill the Canoe Food Drive.” If you did not bring your groceries today, please drop them by the church office anytime. Our FLAME missionaries with be delivering the food to Arlington Community Services and stocking the shelves of their food pantry.

A very special THANK YOU goes out to all the volunteers who helped make Camp Firelight a success and to the families that shared their

children with us this week. We hope your children learned about the stories of Jesus and his wonderful love for us. We also appreciate the donations of time, money, energy, supplies, and decorations! If you let us borrow any items, please pick them up in the Fellowship Hall this week.

The preschool is in need of used tennis ball to help keep the classroom floors protected.

If you play tennis, and can donate old ones, we would love to repurpose them. Drop at church office. Thank you!

Two of our homeless families secured housing in June! We received 6,616 pounds of food and distributed 7,223 pounds. We serviced 447 clients, 224 homeless and help families financially.

Pantry needs are: canned pasta, chili, soup, canned meat, Vienna sausage, canned vegetables and fruit, pasta sauce, instant potatoes, jelly, crackers, peanut butter crackers, cereal/breakfast bars, snacks, clean T-shirts and gently used Bibles.

DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES

We continue to give thanks to the congregation’s response to our “Blessed to Be a Blessing” generosity campaign. We have received 53 pledges totaling $458,546. At this point we expect 2024’s total income to be $615,000 and total expenses to be at $676,000.

We hope to hear from those who have not responded as we continue to evaluate our expectations, before we complete our plan for next year.

Please consider your blessings, as we plan for next year, and how we at Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church may respond to God’s call.
