CONFESSION

Chris Ramsey

CALL TO CONFESSION (Lamentations 3:22-23)

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

PRAYER OF CONFESSION

Forgive us, God of peace and purpose, if we are living in anxiety; if we are worried about the past; if we are apprehensive about the present; if we are fearful about the future. Forgive us if we have failed to trust in your providence, and expand our vision to include confidence in your care for us. Show us the folly of trying to get security by accumulating things which are of little consequence, and demonstrate to us the wisdom of building on the foundation that never crumbles, and of holding fast to those things that never age…(moments of silence)

ASSURANCE (2 Corinthians 5:17)

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

RESPONSE TO FORGIVENESS “Gloria Patri”

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION (Psalm 42:1-2)

Chris Ramsey

As a deer longs for flowing streams, so our souls long for you, O God. Our souls thirst for God, for the living God. When shall we come and behold the face of God? Amen.

OLD TESTAMENT READING (Genesis 1:1-4)

Chris Ramsey

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

NEW TESTAMENT READING (Matthew 8:23-27)

Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Swanson, Pastor

And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. A windstorm arose on the sea, so great that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. And they went and woke him up, saying, “Lord, save us! We are perishing!” And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, you of little faith?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a dead calm. They were amazed, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?”

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER

Rev. Dr. Jonathan T. Swanson, Pastor

We pray these prayers in the name of our King, Jesus Christ, praying as he taught his disciples saying together: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
