PRELUDE – “Sounds of Pentecost”
O come Holy Spirit, we ask you to pour out your power upon your people. Be in our thoughts and words and worship, that all we do may be a prayer to you, and we may truly honor your holy name, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
OPENING SONGS LYRICS
SING ALONG – “When Morning Guilds the Skies”
SING ALONG – “Holy Spirit You are Welcome Here”
CALL TO CONFESSION (Psalm 86:5)
For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call on you.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Hear our prayer, O God, and pardon our iniquity, for sometimes we have resisted, and at other times we have ignored the urgings of the Holy Spirit. Forgive us for the times we have closed our ears to the Spirit’s promptings, for the times we have neglected the Spirit’s gifts, for the times we have failed to produce the Spirit’s fruits, and for the times we have rejected the Spirit’s fullness. Cleanse us once again, and help us, through the Spirit’s power, to become all that we can be. Amen.
ASSURANCE (1 Peter 1:3)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Glory be to the Father,
and to the Son,
And to the Holy Ghost;
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be:World without end. Amen. Amen.

ANTHEM – “Spirit Song”
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION (Psalm 139:23-24)
Search us, O God, and know our hearts; test us and know our thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in us, and lead us in the way everlasting. Amen.
SCRIPTURE READING (Acts 2:1-4, 12-13)
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.
. . . All were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others sneered and said, “They are filled with new wine.”

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND LORD’S PRAYER
God of all mercies, we praise you for your generosity, that you have given the overwhelming gift of the Holy Spirit, more than we can ask or imagine. May we see and know, more and more, the power made available to us in that same Spirit as we serve you.
May we lift-up through the Spirit the brokenness of the world for your healing. We continue to pray for those in positions of authority as they make difficult decisions around the coronavirus. May they act as your instruments, with your wisdom, to bring about your will. We pray all this in the name of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray saying:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.
CLOSING PRAISE – “We Are One in the Spirit”
CLOSING PRAYER (Psalm 106:48)
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting. And let all the people say, “Amen.” Praise the LORD!
