Following is a summary of actions approved during the May meeting:

  • Approved congregational meeting for congregation’s acceptance to Pastor Jon’s terms of call recommended by session.
  • Approved Chris Cavan as messenger to June 23, 2020 Presbytery meeting and Marie Hix as messenger to July 28, 2020 Presbytery meeting.

Additional Information shared:

  • Property committee is securing bids for repair of windows in hallway outside preschool rooms.
  • Generosity and Finance reported spending by Mission Teams restored to original plan that is: “Mission Teams may spend funds already budgeted; however, if the expenditure is greater than $5,000, the Generosity and Finance Mission Team must be notified to ensure appropriate funds on hand without jeopardizing other committed expenses, such as payroll.”
  • Updates to processes for Worship (passing of the peace acknowledgement without leaving pews), and children’s message, children’s worship and nursery opening while continuing to meet appropriate distancing guidelines.

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session inMay, 2020:

 

Following is a summary of actions approved during the May meeting:

  • Accepted Alfred Nelson and Joanna Roopkumar for membership following their brief introduction and responses to affirmation of faith questions.
  • Approved Pastor Jon conducting the baptism of their 1-year old daughter Emorie once we are worshipping together again.
  • Confirmed decision of Generosity and Finance Committee to accept funds from the CARES act for PPP. These funds must be used within next 10 weeks for salaries and utilities and cover both the Preschool Staff and HBPC staff.
  • Approved Worship Team recommendation for HBPC to re-open worship with a 10:00 am only service (typical summer schedule) on June 14, 2020. Details will be published in eBlast; facial coverings will be required; social distancing in sanctuary to be honored.
  • Approved recommendation from Fellowship and Wednesday Night Chairperson to begin having Food Trucks in the parking lot on the first Wednesday of July.
  • Approved recommendation from the Children’s Worship Team for summer camp to replace VBS and FLAME, both of which have been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Approved Susan Reed’s proposal to hold her piano recital in the sanctuary Sun., Aug. 23, 1:30-4 pm.
  • Approved update to Pastor Jon’s terms of call which will be presented to congregation once we are back in-worship.Motion made, seconded and carried to confirm this previously approved electronic motion.
  • Worship, Technology, and Endowment Teams motion for plan to begin to video worship services (including purchase of necessary equipment).

Via ZOOM Conference due to Covid-19 pandemic ‘shelter in place’

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in April, 2020:

NOTE: Due to the ‘shelter in place’ situation, session did not meet in March. Following is a summary of actions approved during the April meeting:

  • Outreach Team motion to disburse $10,000 from Endowment on the LTRO Home Repairs.
  • Worship Team motion to hold a worship service on Good Friday, 4/10/2020, in the Sanctuary from 12-3pm.
  • Worship Team motion to allow the serving of virtual communion for Sun., April 5 (Palm Sunday) and Thurs., April 9 (Maundy Thurs.).
  • HR Team recommendation to allow Jonathan to teach at UNF for the Fall 2020 term, Mon. and Wed., 3-4:15 pm.
  • Outreach Team motion to create a COVID-19 fund to be administrated by Jonathan to aid those recovering from the impacts of coronavirus. Funds will be solicited in the Eblast.

Motion made, seconded and carried to confirm these previously approved electronic motions.

  • Approved request from Presbyterian Women to hold a fundraiser/community outreach in the form of a vendor fair on Sat., Sept. 19, 2020, 9 am-2 pm, using Fellowship Hall, the kitchen, and outside areas including the yard, and covered areas. PW wants to charge $50 per table for vendors and sell food and drink and various handmade items for profit. They also want to have demonstrations by dance, gymnastic, and karate groups, if possible. The PW Coordinating Team will disperse the profits as they see fit.
  • Approved the wedding of Caleb Reed (son of Susan and Wayne Reed) and Lyndsey Harmon, Sat., Jan. 16, 2021, 4 pm; rehearsal Fri., Jan. 15, 5 pm.

Minutes of Special Called Session Meeting
Date: March 15, 2020
Place/Time: Fellowship Hall, 10:00 pm

 

Pastor Jon informed all present that the purpose of this special called Session Meeting was review and confirm the following individuals who have completed confirmation class:

 

  • Dante Blunt
  • Olivia Hill
  • Ethan Lopez
  • Isaiah Newland
  • Rebecca Seiler
  • Austin Zalusky

Following a period of examination; motion made, seconded and approved we confirm and move to membership these confirmands. Presentation to the congregation will be a date to be determined.

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in February, 2020:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Accepted Chris Cavan’s report from winter Presbytery Meeting
  • Confirmed acceptance of John, Lynn and John D. Hannah transferring membership from Palisades Presbyterian Church, San Diego, CA
  • Confirmed acceptance of Bill and Lois Ann transferring membership as affiliate member from McGregor Presbyterian Church, Columbia, SC
  • Confirmed acceptance of Chatfield Kreinest transferring membership from Community Presbyterian Church, Atlantic Beach, FL.
  • Approved changing date of April Session meeting from April 16 to April 23 and June meeting from June 18 to June 25.
  • Motion carried to ask Fellowship Ministry to take ownership of the sub-committee responsible for Wednesday night dinner.
  • Bus and Kitchen use policies were approved.
  • Approved Rev. Dr. Holly Inglis as facilitator re-visioning summit with Session.
