Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in January 16. 2020:

 

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Lynn Holmes and Tim Keeley were approved as elders to the 2020 Nominating Committee
  • The following annual positions were approved:
    • Christian Education Chair: Mike Steve
      • Children: Ann Marie Newland
      • Youth: Amy Zalusky
      • Adult: Rhonda Huston
    • Clerk of session: Marie Hix
    • Co-Chair: Jane Ramsdell; Fellowship Co-Chair: Chris Cavan
    • Finance and Generosity Chair: Melvin Morgan
    • Human Resources Chair and Pre-School Liaison: Chris Gesdorf; Vice: Tim Keeley
    • Outreach and Evangelism Chair: Wezi Blunt; Vice: Kathy Cockerham
    • Property Chair: Gerald Schmidt; Vice: Lori Bergeron

  • Confirmed March 1, 2020 for annual meeting of the Corporation to receive the 2020 budget and the 2019 annual report.
  • Confirmed acceptance of Don and Mary Jo Carlson transferring membership from Providence Presbyterian Church in South Carolina
  • Confirmed acceptance of Gary and Sue Weidner transferring membership from Ft. Caroline Presbyterian Church, Jacksonville, FL.
  • Approved congregational meeting on Sunday March 15 for confirmand examination
  • Approved using funds from the Herrin-Johnson youth fund and the Carol Daniels Missions Fund to help defray costs of youth and adults going on the mission trip to Nicaragua in June, 2020.
  • Approved special outreach missions-focused giving opportunity Lent
  • Approved closing the church office each Friday, beginning with Friday, February 7, 2020.
  • Approved motion from Fellowship Committee that church property may be used for official church functions on or off the property. This includes tables, chairs, table linens and other kitchen equipment. When table linens are used, the must be taken home, laundered and returned to the church within 7 days.
  • Approved request from Boy Scouts to hold a fund-raising pancake breakfast in February and sell tickets after worship services the week preceding the pancake breakfast.

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held December 12 , 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in December 12 , 2019:

  • This was a joint meeting with both deacons and elders present for a delicious meal prepared by the Fellowship Team preceded by a time of fellowship.
  • Committee reports, including the November Financial Statement were approved.
  • Training for new elders and deacons is scheduled for January 12, 2020
  • Other announcements included:
    • Joy Offering – December 22, 2019
    • Christmas Eve Service — December 24 @7:00 pm
    • Church Office Closed — December 25, 2019 – January 2, 2020

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held November 21 , 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in November , 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
    The HBPC Manual of Operations continues to be a ‘work in progress’ with Session teams making updates to existing policies or providing new ones.
  • The following Corporate officers were elected:
    • President – George Ross
    • Treasurer – Melvin Morgan
    • Secretary — Marie Hix
  • Human Resources Committee reported Ryan Gulick has resigned from the position of Adjunct Custodian due to his graduation from UNF and accepting a position with local TV station, Channel 4. The Committee also reported that Winston Kamanga had accepted the position.
  • Accepted and approved changing Dakota Czerniak from part-time to full-time with a corresponding change in job title to that of Director of Youth and Young Adults.
  • Chuck Harper, Financial Secretary, reported that 84 pledge cards were returned which included 17 new pledges and a 17% increase in overall pledged income for 2020.
  • Approved the recommendation to Expand the role of the Task Force, originally appointed in July to study worship services, to spearheading a “visioning for the future summit” early in 2020.
  • Approved the recommendation for all adult classes and groups study the book “The Autopsy of the Deceased Church” during January with training an planning to incur prior to the study beginning.
