Summary of Stated Session Meeting held June 20, 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in June, 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Marie Hix, Clerk of Session reported there is ongoing work to ensure the database aligns with the Clerk’s Membership Register
  • Marie Hix, Chairperson of the Youth Director Search Committee reported that we have a candidate for the Part Time Youth Director coming Sunday, June 30.
  • Approved VBS set-up during the week with allowance made so we can have worship on Sunday due to the huge task entailed in the set-up; also to create excitement for the week.
  • Approved closing the office on Friday, July 5
  • Approved for Jonathan to meet the previously planned continuing education on July 10 –17 in Guatemala to educate pastors.
  • Gerald Schmidt, Chairperson of the Property Committee provided an update on the sanctuary renovation.
  • Motion made and seconded that meeting be held on December 12 at 6:00 pm with meal to be determined.

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held May 16, 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in May, 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Rev. Holly Ingles moderated the session; when there is no installed pastor, Presbytery provides an ordained minister as moderator.
  • Approved Rev. Tom Borland to perform Baptism during the May 26, 2019 worship service for Christopher and Jenni Cole’s daughter.
  • Approved recommendations for membership changes, presented by Marie Hix, Clerk of Session, to align the database with the Clerk’s Membership Register in preparation for moving to the new software later this month.
  • Received update on funding receipt sanctuary renovation
  • The deacons reported they are working with technology team and clerk to update the membership roll.
  • Marie Hix, Chairperson of the Youth Director Search Committee reported that we have a candidate for the Part Time Youth Director coming for the week-end

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held April 25, 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in April, 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Rev. Holly Ingles moderated the session; when there is no installed pastor, Presbytery provides an ordained minister as moderator.
  • Received update on funding receipt of approximately $34,850 for sanctuary renovation
  • The deacons reported they are working with technology team and clerk to update the membership roll.
  • Marie Hix, Chairperson of the Youth Director Search Committee reported that we have a candidate for the Part Time Youth Director coming for the week-end of April 26-28.
  • Chris Gesdorf, chairperson of the PNC, reminded Session of the Called Congregational Meeting at 10:15 on Sunday, May 5, 2019 for the purpose of calling the new pastor.
  • Approved Ministry Team Descriptions for 7 of the Teams with plans to finalize the balance during the May meeting
  • Accepted resignation of Pat Meredith from session with regret
  • Elected Jane Ramsdell as Commissioner to the May Presbytery meeting.

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in March, 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Rev. Holly Ingles visited to observe how the Hodges Session Meetings are conducted; she will moderate the session in April and May; when there is no installed pastor, Presbytery provides an ordained minister as moderator.
  • Received update on funding receipt of approximately $34,850 for sanctuary renovation
  • Discussed Ministry Team definitions and Team structure; resolved to finalize during April meeting

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held February 21, 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in February, 2019:

  • Committees have been very active and many minutes and reports were received and approved
  • Received update on funding receipt of approximately $26,000 for sanctuary renovation
  • April meeting rescheduled for April 25, 2019, because of Maundy Thursday service
  • Resolved to discuss and finalize session structure/team descriptions at March meeting
  • Heard update regarding work with Ministry Architects in finding youth director with encouragement for participating in Summit February 22 and 23.
  • Approved hiring part-time sexton for maintenance work

 

Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church

Summary of Stated Session Meeting held January 24, 2019

 

Following is a summary of the discussions and decisions during the stated meeting of session in January, 2019:

  • The agenda was set for the annual congregation meeting scheduled for February 10.
  • Reviewed updates/changes to HBPC By-Laws for clarity, to conform to Book of Order requirements and to include changes to the size of session.
  • Reviewed session organizational structure with team descriptions provided for review to ensure session members are aware of their team’s responsibilities and to aid in recruiting congregants to Teams.
  • Scheduled new officer training and examination for February 9, 2019.
  • New officer ordination and installation was scheduled for February 10, 2019.
  • Determined that future meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in the Sunrise Room.
  • Heard an updated report on plans for the renovation/repair of the sanctuary, including updated contract and financial campaign.
  • Approved special offerings of One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peace & Global Witness and Joy.
  • Milton Fulton was elected as commissioner to the presbytery meeting February 9, 2019.
